Renting Equipment For An Oilfield: What Can You Rent?

When you want to dig for oil, are you ready to buy every piece of equipment you will need? Probably not, considering the fact that all of that equipment is exceedingly expensive. However, you can rent most of the equipment you will need to get you started until you hit pay dirt, and then you can slowly accumulate the equipment you will need for future drilling (if that is what you intend to do).

Drills

The drills often used to drill water wells are similar to those that drill oil wells. Both types of drills can be rented, so if there is no availability of an oil drill for rent, you could still rent the drill for a water well and begin the drilling process. By the time an oil drill becomes available for rent, the water drill will have already pre-drilled a fair amount for the oil drill. Prices vary for either drill based on your current location.

Generators

An oil rig requires a lot of power because you need the lights to stay on and the power flowing at night. The drilling process runs day and night until the oil begins shooting skyward. Then the well is capped and pumped out into barrels. To manage all of those actions, you need several power generators, all of which can be rented rather than purchased.

Cranes

Cranes are needed to erect the drilling tower over your chosen drill site. Cranes erect the derrick once the oil is struck. Cranes lift all of the heaviest hardware for oil drilling into position and hold the position until the crew can secure the hardware and keep in place. A crane can also rescue anyone from being completely crushed under a heavy component or a piece of equipment that has fallen or fallen over. Cranes, like all other pieces of construction equipment, are definitely available for rent.

Office Trailers and Bathroom Trailers

Crews need to go out of the noise of the oil drill to discuss what is going to happen during each shift. The best way to do that is inside an office trailer. The crew also needs to use restroom facilities, which do not naturally exist in the middle of nowhere near an oilfield. Hence, renting bathroom trailers or "port-a-potties" can ensure that everyone has a clean place to relieve themselves without creating damage to the surrounding environment or causing legal hassles.
